The pressure-vacuum release valve is a protection device, usually installed on the nozzle opening on the top of the fixed top atmospheric storage tank. Their main purpose is to protect the tank from rupture or implosion. If there is no opening or controlled opening, the fixed-top atmospheric storage tank will rupture due to the pressure increase caused by pumping liquid into the storage tank or the vapor pressure change caused by the drastic thermal change. Implosion or tank collapse occurs during the pumping process or the thermal change process.
