Share | Ten Preparations before Ship Safety Equipment Inspection

Ship safety is essential. As a workplace, Ji on board is prone to accidents, so there should be no hidden danger to ensure the safety of Zui to a large extent. Strictly implement the maintenance schedule, which can better ensure that the crew members have safety awareness. Although there are periodic safety management measures, it is also necessary to conduct detailed inspection and update the equipment before inspection. For example, the replacement of expired food (on lifeboats), pyrotechnic signals, damaged labels, etc. should be completed in a timely manner. All kinds of certificates and work logs shall also be checked to keep in mind.

In general, the severity of inspection depends on the appearance inspection of the ship. Therefore, it is very important to keep the ship in good safety condition in all aspects. Then, what key work should be prepared before the inspection of ship safety equipment?

Check the lifeboat. The lifeboat and its equipment (including food, pyrotechnic signals and non pyrotechnic signals) shall be checked and updated. Each crew member on board shall receive strict training on the operation of lifeboats and the use of each equipment on board. The words on the boat should be repainted. Release the lifeboat and launch it for forward and reverse inspection. If necessary, repair and replacement shall be completed as required.

1/10

Check davit. Derusting and painting shall be carried out for davits on lifeboats, and oil shall be applied together with winches and wooden plugs. The purpose of inspection and recheck is to ensure that there is no jamming at the critical moment.

2/10

Check the inflatable life raft. If the inflatable life raft is used regularly, it needs to be strictly checked and replaced if necessary. The label of the life raft is easy to lose its luster in severe weather for a long time, so it should be replaced in general.

3/10

Check the hand-held radio and life buoy. The portable hand-held radio of the lifeboat shall be checked and kept in good working condition of zui. Each crew member should be familiar with the radio station, including the backup battery and how to operate it (the GMDSS manual can be used as a manual for studying various operations of the handheld radio station). Lifebuoys shall also be inspected and replaced as required. Clearly mark the life buoys that are no longer in use. If the signal lamp and battery have expired, they should also be replaced. According to the ship safety management plan, lifebuoys should be placed in different places, which should be clearly marked.

4/10

Check life jackets. All life jackets on board should be strictly checked. Expired life jacket bulbs and damaged life jackets must be replaced. All crew members shall be trained to put on and take off life jackets within the specified time. Sometimes, large or small size life jackets are needed for emergency needs. No inspector will forgive the mistake of not having enough life jackets.

5/10

Check the pyrotechnic signal. Pyrotechnic signals must be within the service life, and those expired must be replaced. Also, check the LTA. The crew must know where pyrotechnic signals are stored and will use them. Generally speaking, the instructions on the package are enough to explain how to operate.

6/10

Check the fire control diagram and its system. The fire control plan must be checked to ensure that the crew is clear. Each fire control diagram shall be checked and strictly implemented.

7/10

Test the fire detection system and fire-fighting equipment. If possible, test the fire/smoke detection system. Meanwhile, the fire pump, fire hose, fire extinguisher, nozzle and coupling shall be tested and inspected. Information about fire extinguishers must be released to the crew on board to ensure that they know the type of fire (A, B, C) applicable to each extinguisher. Check and backfill fire extinguishers in detail as required. Check the complete equipment of firefighters to ensure it is useful. In addition, all crew members on board should be trained on how to wear and take off firemen's equipment, so that they can know how to do it at critical moments. All alarms shall also be tested and checked.

8/10

Check the headrace ladder. The headrace ladder and all its auxiliary devices must also be checked to ensure that they meet the requirements of the specifications related to lowering the headrace ladder.

9/10

Check other important systems according to ship type. The above-mentioned key points are universal and applicable to all ships. In other words, oil tankers also have special inspection focuses, including: IG system; Pipeline of fixed fire fighting system in cargo pump room; Deck foam fire extinguishing system and automatic sprinkler system. It should be noted that as part of the ship safety inspection, the navigation system and equipment should also be inspected. That is to say, check whether the operation and efficiency of all navigation equipment are normal in advance. The inspection shall also include emergency equipment.

10/10

All crew members have experienced various ship safety drills. Only by carefully carrying out these exercises can we make a correct response in the event of an emergency in the security system. However, too frequent safety drills can also paralyze the crew. Of course, the crew can also naturally respond to the inquiries of the surveyor by conducting appropriate drills before the inspection.

We can't pay too much attention to safety issues, because safety is an important issue for the whole bow. The sea voyage is full of ups and downs. Any small negligence will lead to disaster. It is clear that keeping a security system in good condition will lead to twice the result with half the effort.
